Busen Taxidermy

I left several voice mails, text messages, and emails and got 0 responses. It's sad when you can't even get a "professional business" to respond or even take the $6k they require. Luckily there are businesses that like to do business and that's who I gladly paid.

Still has my deer from 2016 it's now 2025...same excuse every time I can catch him ( won't answer or return calls) .... I'm working on it now, you will get it in a couple of months... he has told me this 10 time over the last few years. I'm pretty sure my mount is either ruined or missing..... Do not bring anything to this person for taxidermy! I would give less than one star if I could!!!! Just plain rude when I finally catch him at home...like I'm bothering him for not finishing a job after so many years! Definitely one of the worst buisiness experiences with anyone in my entire 50 years . Edit!!! 1-3-25 went to his shop and was verbally attacked and threatened when I asked for my stuff back!!! After a child like tantrum, cussing and belittling me , he did return my deposit, horns and someone else's hide....and said it was my fault that he didn't complete the job in 8 years because I didn't stay on him and call constantly.. ..also there was a pile of probably 100 sets of horns in in his shop so if you're still waiting on him it ain't happening... go get your stuff!

This review is in regards to taxidermy work that was done. Not the taxidermy school that Mr Busen has. I took my deer to Mr Busen in June of 2011. I just got it back about a month ago, in late February of 2013. So he had it for about 20 months. During this time, he frequently wouldn't return my calls. I took to calling him from a different phone so that I could actually get an answer. The first time I called him was July of 2012. He'd told me it'd probably be after Christmas initially and I said that'd be fine, that I wasn't in a big rush. When I talked to him he said he'd been real busy with his school but that my deer should be done in about 5 weeks. I said no big deal. I waited until September and tried again. I left a message and it wasn't returned. I waited a couple weeks, and left another message which also wasn't returned. When I finally got ahold of him the next month he said that it should just be a couple more weeks. I waited until after Christmas of 2012 and got back in touch and got a similar couple weeks type of response and then it got to be that it would be ready the next week. He even told me he was waiting for a part to come in. I'm not sure what part would be needed after 18 months or so, but I'm just wanting my horns back at this point and so I said fine. I eventually got it and it really doesn't look that good. Don't get me wrong, its not terrible but it's got hair slipping on one side and there are areas where the hide looks patched and the cape I brought in was in great condition. I'm not sure what happened to my deer or if I even got the same hide that was on the deer I shot, but I know I won't be going back to Busen's and I won't let my friends go back either. It's a shame because Mr Busen seems to be a nice guy but I sure didn't have a good experience.
