R & R Taxidermy
R & R Taxidermy in Mesa presents a mixed track record in craftsmanship and reliability. While some clients praise their artistic skill, particularly in intricate mounts like javelina shoulders, others report prolonged delays and communication gaps, with projects taking far longer than promised. The quality of work can vary significantly, from exceptional results for certain trophies to disappointing outcomes for others, suggesting inconsistency in execution.
Potential customers should weigh expectations carefully, as turnaround times and responsiveness appear to be recurring concerns. This taxidermy shop was recommended by a good friend. I had a 404 non-typical Elk mount, that I wanted changed into a European mount. It seemed pretty straightforward, as the shop said they could do it. Not only did it take a long time, but it was very difficult to get this taxidermy shop to respond. The first time they made an attempt, it was approximately 14 inches less on the inside spread, and my elk looked like a unicorn. I provided them with extra photos, and the actual Boone and Crockett game sheet. The spread was 53 inches wide. Not only were the antlers not set evenly, right side is dipped more than the left, RnR mounted it at 59 inches wide? It looks like hell. Do not waste your time with this shop. I should’ve mounted it myself with an uncle Mike’s plastic kit from bass pro. It would’ve looked much better. Now I have to get a real taxidermy shop to fix my world class elk. James Herrick.
Took about a year and 3 quarter to get my buck back. The only thing was that it wasn’t started. He cut the antlers in half so it could fit in his freezer. Wasn’t a freezer dryer. It was your average Home Depot freezer. The buck was in velvet. Pushing the 180s. Our goal was to get it scored but you can’t get it scored once the antlers have been modified or tampered with. When we picked the antlers up. He admitted that he was purposely avoiding our calls. Do not recommend this place.
I have also done a Javelina shoulder here and it came out fantanstic! Sure I had to wait a while, we all do. When it comes to Taxidermy it's important to find a great artist and when you do sometimes you have to wait a while longer than others. I have had a lot of items done and in the beginning and paid the price dearly for not checking the artist first. My items came back sooner but looked awful and in some cases fell apart. R&R are real artists and I'm going back this week for my 14 yr olds deer. Can't wait!
R and r taxidermy is taking about a year and a half just to finish a javelina shoulder mount. The javilina has been back from the tannery for about 5 months sitting in the shop. each time I call them they say we will have it done in 2 weeks. Two weeks later call them. They say give us another two weeks.and so on We took the javelina in October 29th
Worst taxidermist in the state of Arizona. If you want to waste your money and see your hard earned trophy ruined this is the place to go. I took a Fox in to be full body mounted and they told me it would be done in 2 years. 3 years later I got the worst looking mount I’ve ever seen in my life. My friend had a cape for his 222" strip buck as well as a bobcat hide shipped to the tannery thru them and both got destroyed by bugs. Another friend took an elk hide to get tanned which they lost. Need I say more? R and R taxidermy is an absolute disgrace.
Great guys!! I have that Bill mount an elk, black buck antelope, dall sheep, deer and Javelina. Trusted with a deer trophy from a "governor’s tag". All animals mounted were exceptional! Willing to provide pictures. Getting ready to drop off another elk next week.
Dropped off a bear skin for repair back in november and have not heard back on the cost for the scope of work so it is hard to proceed without my authorization and they dont seem to call back when I leave a message so I guess I will have to drive out there and find out what is going on with the bear
