We dined at Buckhorn Exchange and had a wonderful experience overall. We ordered the quail and the bone-in ribeye. The quail was perfectly prepared—tender, flavorful, and clearly done with care. The ribeye was cooked beautifully, though the seasoning was a bit on the lighter side for our taste. That said, the quality of the meat was excellent. What truly stood out was the service—absolutely flawless from start to finish. Attentive, friendly, and professional. A classic Denver dining experience that we would happily return to.
This is hands-down the best meat I’ve ever eaten. We are four people and decided to go all out, ordering ‘the big steak,’ and it was absolutely unbelievable—cooked to perfection, juicy, and packed with flavor. The atmosphere of the place is fantastic: cozy yet lively, with a vibe that makes you want to linger and enjoy every bite. The service is impressively fast, and the staff genuinely seem happy to be there, always smiling and attentive without being overbearing. Honestly, it’s rare to find a place where the food, service, and ambiance all come together so perfectly. We left completely satisfied and are already planning our next visit!
Very unique Denver landmark restaurant with a fascinating history. Love how it’s been preserved. Fun place to try especially if you want to try meats like Yak, elk, bison, etc. they do offer salmon for those who don’t eat meat but this is not a good choice for vegetarians or vegans. They have their own parking lot which is nice. Their is a train stop right across the street which is convenient
The Buckhorn Exchange is a historic Denver landmark that’s worth visiting at least once if you are ever around the area. The food was just okay, but the ambiance and service were excellent. The restaurant is full of history and really makes you feel like you’ve stepped back in time. It gives you a glimpse of the Old West. Won’t be a go to place for steak but we were happy with our experience!
I’ve seen the buckhorn exchange for years on the food network and told myself someday while going through Denver I would mark this one off the culinary bucket list. We drove in from an ever in Albuquerque on our way to Estes Park for another event. We were tired but ready for our experience in delicious grilled game. The food was fantastic and didn’t disappoint, although know what you want ahead of time because once you get there, there’s so many options. It’s very hard to make a decision of what to get. This is the oldest still standing restaurant in Denver, Colorado. Take it all in the atmosphere the decor it really just enjoy your time there. You can’t make a wrong decision whenever it comes to food and be open to trying new things. Bucket list checkmark!
I had a great experience at the Buckhorn exchange. It was my birthday and they made it a good occasion. The only thing I'd change is who I went with. Whomever cooked the elk and quail I had for dinner cooked it literally perfect. I've never had better in my life. Kudos to the head chef
Easily one of the best meals I have ever enjoyed. Our waiter, Casey, was well-versed on the menu options, and his preferences and suggestions for preparation were on point. We started with gator bites and buffalo sausage, both were fantastic, and came with great dips. I went with elk and quail, and my lady went with the buffalo prime rib. The meat was 10/10. Juicy, perfectly cooked and seasoned, and it melted in your mouth. The atmosphere was great and there is so much history. Would definitely recommend.
