I have been looking for a good processor since Old Plantation closed in Springtown. Took a big buck a couple of weeks ago in Clay County and decided to bring it to Backyard Taxidermy & Processing. They were very friendly and helped me decide the cuts of meat I wanted. Unloading the deer was also an awesome experience. Even asked to clean my truck bed out. They told me it would take a couple of weeks but 8 days later I got a call from them saying it was ready. I got 58 pounds of meat off that deer, all vacuum sealed and tenderized. The burger is great! I liked it so much, brought my doe there just the other day. Will bring my wife with me to pick it up because the inside of this place is packed with animal mounts and accessories. Thanks for the great service!
I dropped my goose off Jan 2 of 2023. They collected final payment March of 2023. Told me it would take 60 days from final payment. I called November of 2023 and was told they lost the paperwork and hadn’t started on the bird. Give them a couple months and they would get it done. I waited until August if 2024 when I spoke to the owner. He told me they dropped the ball and he would be in it and it would get done by opening day if 2024. Still not done. They have had my money for 2 years and I still don’t have my bird. This place isn’t even to be trusted.
It's a really nice facility but the processing is outrageously expensive. It cost almost double what my deer cost previously at a different processor. Every cut was smaller in comparison to the other processors I've used. And, unlike previous years, I used a head shot on the doe, so I'd have more meat but my box was pretty light. I will not be going back there.
The work is great but it shouldn’t take 2 1/2 years for a shoulder mount to be done. Aaron and the people working for him are full of excuses why things aren’t done. I understood COVID but to use it for two years is crazy. They have no problem wanting the money but when u say something is supposed to be done in 6-10 months you should keep your customers informed. They never return calls, beat around the bush on info, and the only work you ever seen done in there is him working on his establishment. I will never bring back another mount to them. I have seen plenty of my friends mounts done by other places that look just as good and are down in six months.
Multiple issues with this place. First one being, when I picked up the meat from my deer, they forgot to give me by backstrap. When I called them and explained I lived over an hour a way, they offered to bring it to me, but every time I tried to set up a time and place to meet, they had an excuse for not being able to meet. Secondly, it took almost 18 months to get my mount back. When I called them this past November (a year after dropping it off), I was told it would be ready in about two weeks. Got busy with the holidays, so I called them in February and was told another 30 days. I called again on March 31st and was told it would be ready the next week. I called again on May 2nd and was told it would be ready later in the week. When I called on May 9th, he said he hadn't finished it, but could have it ready by 1:00. Then, to put an exclamation point on the whole experience, he wants to give me a hard time about not picking it up the day before, saying it put him behind on his other orders, after giving me the run around for the last 6 months. Definitely will not be using this place again.
First, we actually got our ducks back after over a year of waiting for them to be mounted. We lost our payment and learned our lesson. We called and if we managed to use a new phone number, he would answer. My son showed up at his place and was promised the ducks back - somehow that happened due to persistence on my son's part. VERY EXPENSIVE LESSON.
They got a new freezer and didn’t plug it in and so my meat and others went bad and I got my second deer for free but I got sausage and it tasted terrible after I cooked it do not recommend at all I would rather go to Chad Horner he is way better if there was a zero star this place deserves it.🙄😡🤬 Also feels like they don’t care about service because it’s forever until you get it
