Top of Texas Taxidermy

I gave them a 3 because the actual bobcat was a pretty good job. I knew it would take about a year because this was back during covid. I picked out the mount I wanted and everything was logged. I paid half up front and waited. When I go to get my cat it doesn’t look like the same one. Mine had beautiful bright white spots on it and this one was like a blurr of spots. That was the reason I decide to mount it. My brother said of the pickup load he’s killed this one was the most spectacular bright white spots. So thinking maybe tanning did the blurred part I notice the cat isn’t angled down the mount like I had picked in a ready to pounce way. So the lady wasn’t there but the guys insinuated that there was a mistake in mounting style. Well I was charged the full price and what could I do since it was mounted. I’ve thought about a review for years now every time I walk by it disappointed in $850 that coulda gone to a more useful pistol or something else. So now you get my review. To others who want a specific mount. Be aware that you might not get what you wanted and could’ve just had your brother tan the hide out for you for free and been better off.

I shot my dream Mallard Drake, and had to get it mounted. I had never used any taxidermist before so I went solely off of friend’s recommendations. Let me tell you this, I was NOT disappointed. I haven’t stopped looking at it since I brought it home. Thanks again to the TOT team for making my first mallard so beautiful.

I dropped off a sand hill crane in early January 2023. I paid half the cost upfront. I was originally told 6-9 months. 9 months came and went, I reached out and was told they need 3-4 more months. Then I was promised by December 2024. It’s now May 2025, I don’t have the bird yet and have not been able to get in contact with an employee.

Erik and his crew at Top of Texas Taxidermy are extremely skilled in their work. Kelly, Tahlia, and Gary are very talented. Their attention to detail is incredible. I highly recommend them if you want the best of the best for taxidermy.

Took a mule deer mount into Top of Texas Taxidermy in December 2018. Was told it would take a year or less to have the mount returned. Made many multiple phone calls and left countless messages. On the rare occasion that I was able to get through, I was given the same answer, "It will be ready next month". 19 months later I finally got my mount. The mount itself was done professionally. The service was terrible. I won’t be back.

Not only is Erik an amazing Taxidermist, he is a great guy. He takes serious interest in making sure you have a grade A experience. He is diverse not only trophy mounts but has a wealth of knowledge of the animals that come in to his shop. Not to mention some of the things he offers in his gift shop. Items like pillows, lamps wall hangings and much more. I highly recommend Top of Texas Taxidermy for ANY of your taxidermy needs. Start to finish Erik can handle it all.
